  • Purpose and learning objectives

    The elective here introduces the student to common principles and processes we apply in an IT operation and Support environment, and enables you to work in an IT organization with operation / support as the primary function.
    The purpose is to introduce the student to the tools and processes used in the IT organization's operation and support.
    The introduction will aim to give the student an understanding of tools and processes, as well as skills and competencies that make it possible to familiarize themselves with an organization's structure and apply its knowledge and further develop the organization's maturity


    After completing this elective, you will have a general knowledge of how an IT organization is composed and how it serves the rest of the organization. Including knowledge of processes, hardware, configuration principles, service agreements, operating agreements, building a service center, setting up management of networks and network components


    After completing this elective, you will be able to:
    • Join an IT organization and work with the tools and methods used today.
    • Work according to, and assist in the preparation of SLA
    • Develop backup strategies and contribute to the implementation
    • Be part of IT organizational structures (Eg. ITIL)


    You will after this elective has been completed:
    • Strategic: Be able to independently assess and further develop the level of maturity in the IT organization (CMMI)
    • Tactical: Be able to work with, and further develop, processes in an IT organization
    • Operational: Assess and optimize work routines in an IT organization according to best practice
    • Assess and recommend equipment and principles in an operating environment

  • Type of instruction
    The form of teaching is a combination of teaching, exercises and presentations from external professionals.
    The teachers will primarily give examples from practical experiences and cases, and apply models and best practices that are used today. There will be exercises along the way to suit the topic.

    Prerequisites for access to the examination
    There are 2 compulsory assignments in this elective. The assignments must both be approved in order for you to be allowed to take the exam

    The exam is oral with the submission of a project assignment of five A4 pages before the oral exam.
    The assignment is an answer to the assignment that is handed out up to the project period. The task is solved in groups of two to four people
