Case 1 with the sub title SolidWorks is an assignment covering the core area Technical Documentation (TD) from the PRT curriculum.
Knowledge
You are hired in as an external consultant to help a company create a set of 3D drawings for technical documentation of an existing product.
Your main task is to disassemble and measure the various parts, and hereafter re-draw them in the CAD programThe student will gain knowledge about the practice of the profession and the subject area as well as key applied theory and methods, including:
Skills
structure and coherence in building a 3D modelThe student will get the skills to:
apply the key methodologies and tools of the subject area as well as the skills associated with employment in the industry, including:
o the use of 3D CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software in the construction of a 3D CAD model at part as well as assembly level.
communicate practice-orientated issues and solutions to partners and users, including:
o conversion of sketches, concept descriptions and design calculations to a 3D CAD model. - Type of instruction
Finally, the student will be required to submit a set of the individual parts and an assembly drawing for the bench (all in 3D) in WISEflow. It is expected that everyone will hand in, because the above mentioned forms the basis for passing the 2nd semester.
