  • Purpose

    In the theme of Optimization 2, you build on knowledge about optimization of production and processes from 1st and 2nd semester. There will be a focus on understanding production as a chain of processes. In this context, you will be given additional methods to map, calculate and simulate processes. The theme also touches on how you manage the company's supply chains as well as how you assess the company's future resource needs.

    Teaching the theme Optimization 2 will include: consist of the following:
    • Process Mapping
    • Supply chain management and forecasting
    • Statistics
    • Production Simulation

  • Type of instruction and practical application of learning objectives
    The form of teaching is a mixture of class teaching in which theories, methods and tools are presented. You will then work on practice-related tasks both individually and in groups, which are also presented.
  • Exam

    The learning outcomes of the exam are identical with the learning outcomes of the subject(s)/modul(es)

    You have passed the 1st year exam.

    The project process is structured so that a synopsis must be handed in early in the process
    WISEflow, and finally the final project is submitted.

    Synopsis is not a compulsory element of the program, and failure to pass it does not therefore cost an exam. However, it is an important working document that we strongly recommend that you prepare. If the group has failed to prepare a synopsis, the group also does not have the right to guidance.

    Synopsis is used as the final basis for the assessment of the project's quality and final approval. Approval is made immediately after the handover. 'Evaluation of
    synopsis'. The completed synopsis must include an overall project plan.

    The synopsis must be a maximum of 3 normal pages - both for group and individual production.
    Apply the template to FRONTER and include the following:
    • Purpose
    • Problem definition
    • Context / empiricism
    • Methodological and theoretical considerations
    • Tentative conclusion
    • An overall project plan must also be included.

    Evaluation of synopsis
    • 5 minutes for presentation
    • Teachers provide feedback. Maximum time: 15 min.

    ONGOING
    • Why is the project still a good idea? Have any changes been made to what you like?
       will develop or optimize?
    • Show the methods, theories and tools that you have used so far and explain why
       are good to use in connection with your problem
    • Show how you have collected data and the results of data. Tell how you have evaluated
       the reliability of data
    • Visually present which solutions you have so far come up with and what they are
       economical (only for process optimization) means for the company. In product development
       present at least 2 physical concept models.
    • Show how you have systematically decided what possible solutions you will work on
       continue with
    • Perspect and evaluate
       • View the project reports and tell us how the process has been so far
       • View a revised project plan for the rest period along with quantified
          division of labor

    Formal requirements
    The report is based on an approved synopsis.
    • Maximum 50 physical pages incl. graphics (front page, table of contents and source /
    literature list not included).
    • Use font size 12 in a readable font
    • Title page with info below:
    o The title of the report
    o Your full name (s)
    o School name and logo
    o Names of affiliated teachers / tutors
    o Number of estimates in the report including spaces.
    o In the case of corporate assignments, or assignments with a clear corporate affiliation,
    the company name and a contact person as well as mail for this must appear.

    Projects are generally expected to have many relationships with business, and so it is

    A report is expected to use visual forms, including sketches, figures,
    diagrams, etc.

    Exceeding the scope can have an impact on the grade. Is the overrun significant - ie
    more than 25% - the form requirement for the assignment is not complied with and this can mean a rejection of
    project.

    We also point out that the projects are scanned for plagiarized content. plagiarism
    also involves recycling more than one sentence from one's own previous project with less
    source reference to this is provided.

    Reports and synopsis are saved in pdf format and uploaded under "Answer" in WISEflow

    Note: max file size is 25 MB - and the attachment material is compiled in one PDF file with table of contents.

    However, Excel documents and Microsoft Project files are delivered in the original version. Appendices are not part of the assessment basis.

    Reports uploaded as PDF image files will not be accepted. This means, inter alia, that text and
    tables should be able to be editable, scanned and highlighted in the uploaded PDF format.

    For group submissions, remember that all members of the group must submit the material in the respective flows. All members of the group must appear on the title page or other front page.

    The last slide in the presentation is a chart showing the group's work distribution in%.
