Working as a Business Analyst (EN)
2022/2023- Purpose and learning objectives
Most of us have probably experienced using poorly designed it-solutions, that do not fulfill our needs. As an example, ‘Sundhedsplatformen’ (the Danish health care itsolution), an it-solution designed for the US health care system. The health care system in the US is very different from the Danish, and the IT-solution has been heavily criticized for not fulfilling the needs of the Danish health care system.
Knowledge
That’s why business analysis is so important. As a business analyst you are the mediator between business and IT and it is your responsibility to analyze, identify, and describe business and user requirements in a way, so that IT understands the needs. Doing this properly will ensure, that the It-solution delivered will fulfill the requirements.
The goal of the course is to give you the toolbox of a business analyst and the skills to choose the relevant tool depending on the problem given, so that you can perform business analysis in any given business area, solving any given it-problem.
The course will add new tools to your existing toolbox as user stories, process modeling with BPM and modeling of business rules.• How different context influences how to perform the analysis

The lectures will be based on cases, supported by theory.
Some of the cases will be delivered from KEA’s external partners others will be based on problems which the student themselves have experienced and others will be
formulated by the lectures using their experiences from practice. - Exam
The learning outcomes of the exam are identical with the learning outcomes of the subject(s)/modul(es)
Prerequisites for access to the examinationDuring the elective cases with external partners will be mandatory group case hand-ins. Each of these includes a small report and a class presentation. In the subject Working as a Business Analyst (EN) you will receive 65 hours of instruction, which corresponds to 86 lessons (1 lesson = 45 min.) and 24% of your total workload for the subject.
The teaching primarily consists of the following activities: classroom teaching, cases, external lectures, interdisciplinary project-based teaching.
The preparation primarily consists of the following activities: reading the curriculum, group work, project work.
