  • Purpose and learning objectives

    The internship is organised so that it contributes – in combination with the rest of the study programme – to the student developing practical competencies. The aim of the internship is to enable the student to apply the programme’s methods, theories and tools by performing specific practical software development tasks.

    Knowledge

    The student must have knowledge of:
    •Daily operations throughout the internship company.

    Skills

    The student can:
    •Apply versatile technical and analytical working methods linked to employment within the profession
    •Evaluate practice-oriented issues and identify possible solutions
    •Manage the structuring and planning of day-to-tasks within the profession
    •Communicate practice-oriented issues and reasoned solution proposals.

    Competences

    The student can:
    •Handle development-oriented, practical and professional situations in relation to the profession.
    •Acquire new knowledge, skills and competencies related to the profession
    •Participate in academic and interdisciplinary collaboration with a professional approach.

    The learning outcomes of the exam are identical with the learning outcomes of the subject(s)/modul(es)

    A project report and a product must be submitted.
    The project report, which constitutes the written part of the examination, must contain as a
    minimum:
    • Front page with title, given name and date of birth, class designation and date
    • Table of contents with page numbers
    • Problem formulation or work tasks
    • Main section
    • Conclusion
    • Bibliography (incl. all sources that the project references to)
    • Appendix (includes just the appendix that is central to the report)
    • All pages must be numbered

    Front page, table of contents, bibliography and appendix are not included in the required total number of pages. Appendixes are not part of the assessment.
    A normal page is 2,400 characters incl. spaces and footnotes. Front page, table of contents,

    Every single figure or diagram counts as 800 characters.

    The assessment criterion for the examination is the learning objectives for the compulsory course of study element.
    The learning objectives are stated in the joint curriculum.
    Deadline for submission
    The examination takes place at the end of the internship. Further details about time and location and about submission of the project are available on the student intranet, Fronter.

The figure shows the extent of workload related to the internship divided into different study activities.

During your internship you or your group will receive 4 hours of guidance from your counselor.

The rest of the time equivalent to 407 hours are used on internship work. The activities in relation to internship work during the internship depend on the kind of internship you choose, but overall it is your own responsibility to structure the amount of time you spend on writing your report, working at the company, preparing for the exam, etc.

The internship primarily includes of the following activities: completing the tasks that were agreed upon, writing a report based the internship, interacting with a contact person in the company.
