- Purpose and learning objectives
Information Technology introduces the student to technologies and methods in computer and network systems design. A basic description of architectures and components for designing computer systems and networks. The students will be able to understand the technical capabilities and limitations of computer systems.Knowledge
This programme element also includes theory and methods of IT governance, which introduces the student to issues relating to management and securing of IT systems.

2) theories and methods to design a systems architecture integrating knowledge about
information technology, business processes, and business objectives
3) theories about information technology trends to create concepts for software applications
4) methodologies to forecast short term and long term cost consequences of IT acquisitions,
including environmental aspects
5) selecting and presenting relevant solution models regarding trends in information
technology to collaboration partners and users
The student is able to handle complex and development-oriented situations regarding
1) design of a systems architecture
2) creating concepts for software applications or IT systems based on technological trends
3) estimating and communicating the consequences of software, hardware, and IT systems
acquisitions, including a cost/benefit analysis
4) analyzing and communicating the security aspects of the IT portfolio, processes or
5) identifying own learning needs and developing own knowledge, skills, and competences
in relation to systems architecture and trends in information technology

Classroom teaching and project work.
The Students work in Scum-teams with a specialised part of curriculum.
Understanding and applying technical topics is done as groupwork.

Equipment needed to participate
We assume students to have a laptop that runs Windows 10 (or later) or Mac OS X 10.12 (or later).
Older versions of Windows or Mac OS and Linux might work in most cases – but is not supported with help to install open source tools or handle teaching examples.
We assume students have a HDMI-port or miniDVI/lightning port on their laptop.
In a select few teaching situations (not in 1st semester) examples are used, that does not work well with less than 4 GB RAM Memory – for this 8 GB RAM is recommended.
Students will need office software (Microsoft, Apple, Google, or..).
Students need to be able to produce and read pdf-documents, Word-documents, Powerpoint-presentations and Excel-spreadsheets.
There exist a Microsoft cloud version that becomes available when you set up a free one-drive account.
An Internet browser needs to be available (i.e. Chrome or Safari).
We strongly recommend students to have access to Facebook and a private Facebook-account.

To take the exam, the student must submit all the assignments specified on KEA's learning platform.
The basis for the examination consists of selected assignments, which together constitute the portfolio of assignments. The assignments have been selected and described in the semester guide, which is available at the start of the semester. The assignments can be prepared individually or in groups.
Individual oral exam
The starting point of the oral part of the examination is the portfolio of assignments.
The oral exam lasts 30 min. incl. grading.

The evaluation of the performance is based on the degree to which it complies with the purpose and learning objectives of the subjects.
In the subject Information Technology I you will receive 48 hours of instruction, which corresponds to 64 lessons (1 lesson = 45 min.) and 35% of your total workload for the subject.
The teaching primarily consists of the following activities: internal lecturers, interdisciplinary project-based teaching, group work.
The preparation primarily consists of the following activities: project work, reading the curriculum, exercises.
